I am a Chartered psychologist and relationship counsellor (registered with the British Psychological Society and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) working with clients from all over the world both online and face to face from my office in Athens, Greece.
I have been in the field of psychology since the beginning of my professional life, starting with an Academic career of almost 20 years in the UK teaching and researching aspects and factors of human development, conflict, social attitudes, emotions, trust and the experience of discrimination and racism.
An integrative approach is used with emphasis on person-centred, systemic or psychodynamic elements depending on the client’s needs and personality.
The number of sessions depends on a number of factors including the client’s needs (severity of symptoms, issues to be addressed), goals for therapy and readiness to work with oneself. In collaboration with the therapist your progress is assessed regularly, looking at the current needs and future goals, which allows you to see how you may proceed.
We recommend weekly sessions, at least at the beginning of counselling, in order to establish continuity in the work that is taken and in the therapeutic alliance that will assist clients in their therapy journey.
It’s normal to feel nervous before your first appointment; usually clients prepare and include in their initial email just a couple of sentences of what brings them to therapy. Clients are always invited by their therapist to share only as much as they feel comfortable to in their sessions. There will be no intrusive questioning or a requirement for clients to share every detail of their life if they don’t want to. All sessions take place to support you in your journey at your own pace.
